POLK COUNTY, MO July 8, 2020 – The Polk County Health Center has confirmed its 19th positive case of COVID-19 in Polk County. The patient is a Polk County resident and is currently at home in isolation following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

All those who may have come into direct contact with the individual while infectious have been contacted by the Polk County Health Center epidemiology team. All those in quarantine will be monitored for fever and respiratory symptoms by PCHC staff. The case is a result of direct contact with an active positive case and has been in quarantine; therefore no public exposures resulted from this case.  

Notification of Potential Public Exposure to COVID-19

The Polk County Health Center is notifying the public of potential community exposures from COVID-19 positive individuals. The two cases reside in other jurisdictions.  Before being diagnosed the cases visited Polk County establishments on the following dates:

Tuesday, June 30:

Smith’s Restaurant in Bolivar between noon-1 p.m. (infectious and symptomatic, not masked)

Westlake Ace Hardware, Bolivar between 1-2p.m. (infectious and symptomatic, not masked)

C & C Farm and Home, Bolivar between 1-2 p.m. (infectious and symptomatic, not masked)

Thursday, July 2:

                A variety of flea markets and thrift stores in Bolivar were visited between 1-4 p.m. The case was unable to specifically identify the locations, (infectious and symptomatic, not masked)

Monday, July 6:

                Dollar General, Humansville, afternoon hours, specific time unknown, (infectious and symptomatic, not masked)

Anyone who was at these locations on these dates is at low risk for contracting COVID-19, but should monitor for symptoms. There is no need to self-quarantine or isolate unless symptoms develop.

It is our responsibility to take steps to suppress COVID-19 in our community and interact with our environment carefully. If someone is sick or thinks they may be sick, they need to stay home. We all need to practice social distancing, proper hand hygiene and wear a face covering whenever possible.
